Family, by birth or choice, is a gift!

Hopefully all of you will be spending the next couple of months with family (either the type we were born into and/or the ones we choose to be with).  Our family, by birth or by choice, make up the threads of who we are.

A day with a loved one is a gift and this time of year I hope your gifts are plentiful. It is also a good time to make the opportunity to take a pause and to connect with your loved ones you surround yourself with. While with ‘family’, stories of joy (and sometimes sadness) are going to be shared. Are you the default family historian? Can you point to someone who is? It is never too late to start to capture the stories that are being shared and record the memories that soon may pass.  

Recently, I sat down with my mom and played with my new favorite platform, Artifct. We went from room to room, and I learned (and recorded) fun stories about Knick Knacks that my mom holds dear (as well as ones that bring her joy now – but do not need to be kept in the family later). It was such an enjoyable afternoon. This site not only allows you to capture stories of photos and memorabilia, but it also allows you to capture these memories in text or audio files. I look forward to more Artifcts moments with my mom on my next visit.
