Brush your Teeth and BackUp – Daily!
March 31st was World Backup Day and June was Backup Awareness Month. Why is so much time dedicated to ‘Backing Up’? Personally, I would say that daily backups of your computer and phone are as important as brushing your teeth (which I also hope you also do daily)!
Now, more than ever, we are capturing countless memories that tell our stories, not to mention all the other files stored on our electronic devices. Running the risk of losing them to a hard drive failure, accidental deletion, or (in rare occasions) theft is a possibility. To help reduce (and avoid) any additional undue stress, having a consistent and reliable backup plan is important. Just like brushing your teeth (because we all know that daily brushing makes trips to the dentist less stressful).
There is a difference between syncing and backing up. If you are not 100% confident that you know the difference, PLEASE do not hesitate to be in touch!
Backing up daily is easy to do and can happen in many ways. For those who solely live in the Mac Universe, you have the option of using Time Machine. If you have a ‘blended family’, using both PC and Mac products, there are other options available to you.
There are several cloud-based systems that allow you to schedule regular backups. Personally, I use Backblaze and Mylio, Mylio backs up my iPhone to my PC and Backblaze backs up my entire system (more on Mylio in my August newsletter).
Backblaze offers a 5-day Free Trial and in honor of Backup Awareness Month they are offering a 20% discount for new computer backup customers with this code: BAM2024 (valid through midnight PT on July 15, 2024).
If you have questions or want/need to learn more, as always, my calendar is here for you!
